I help people and organizations communicate through words, images, design, and print.
I’m Shaun Savarese, a writer, editor, journalist, graphic communications professional, and project-focused communicator with experience across newspapers, nonprofit communications, print production, large-format graphics, photography, historical research, and community leadership.
My career began in journalism, where I learned how to report, write, edit, photograph, and build stories under deadline. As a sports reporter and editor, I covered athletes, coaches, schools, families, and communities — but the work was never just about scores. The best stories were about people, memory, identity, perseverance, and place.
Over time, that foundation expanded into visual and production-based communication. I moved from writing and editing stories to helping shape how information is physically and visually presented through newspaper pagination, print production, environmental graphics, signage, branding, and large-format projects.
This site brings that work together in one place.
My portfolio includes journalism, columns, research writing, creative writing, photography, graphic communications, print production, project management, and community leadership. The common thread is communication: taking information, ideas, stories, and visual material and shaping them into something people can understand, use, remember, or act on.
I hold degrees in Journalism/English and History from the University at Albany and have completed graduate coursework in Project Management at Fayetteville State University. I am continuing to build toward the next phase of my career in graphic communications, workflow, visual media, print technology, and emerging tools such as AI.
At its core, my work is about helping people connect — to information, to organizations, to communities, and to each other.
